8 Warframe Changes You Might Have Missed

Warframe is a living world that continues to grow in scope and size each year. With each major update, we offer exciting new additions to Warframe. At the same time, though, we've been looking back to improve on what came before with veteran, lapsed, and even new players in mind! If you've taken a break from Warframe in the recent past, and are just coming back to check out our newest content, here are some major changes you might have missed.

Steam-Linked Account Sign-In

Quite a lot of Tenno on PC use Steam as their platform of choice. Previously, these players had to launch Warframe from Steam and then enter a password for your Warframe account. With the release of our latest update, Koumei & the Five Fates, you can now log in via your Steam account when you launch the game — or even opt-in to Auto Login via Steam to expedite the process even further!

Cross Platform Save

Speaking of connecting accounts — if you play on any combination of PC, PlayStation, Xbox, iOS and Nintendo Switch, you can now link your accounts and play wherever you want! With the release of the Whispers in the Walls update, we added Cross Platform Save to Warframe, letting you share your progress across all platforms.

We also recently increased the scope of Cross Platform Trading, allowing you to even trade with players who haven’t accessed the Cross Platform Save system (with some restrictions).

Quality of Life Changes: Navigation, Fast Travel, and Void Relics

Loadout changes are no longer exclusive to your Arsenal. You can swap equipment, configs, and more via the Navigation console, keeping you focused on the Mission at hand (and saving you valuable time jumping between sections of your Orbiter). Sometimes even the smallest changes can have a major impact on play.

Whether you need to hop to your Helminth Chair or Mod Bench, new Fast Travel options are now more easily accessible via your Gear Wheel in your Orbiter, and also in Relays and Hubs.

For those hunting for Blueprints and other items from Void Relics, we’ve also made it much easier to see which items you’ve already owned or crafted. The status is now shown on the Void Relic selection screen and on-hover as mission rewards. The functionality also applies to the Relic Reward selection screen upon successfully cracking a Relic.

Arcane Dissolution

If you were hip deep into the veteran aspects of Warframe before you took a break, you might already have a whole heap of Arcanes in your Inventory. Also introduced during the Whispers in the Walls update, you now have the option to use "Arcane Dissolution," letting you dissolve those items into a new resource called Vosfor. This new material can then be traded in the Sanctum Anatomica for new Arcane packs to help you collect the ones you want! Of course, you need to have completed the Whispers in the Walls Quest in order to access Arcane Dissolution.

Core Gameplay Changes

We're always making changes to key gameplay features to move with the times and keep certain content up-to-date with our modern design sensibilities. For example, we've recently simplified enemy health types and resistances, adjusted enemy Armor and Shield scaling, buffed Warframe Shields and reworked Warframe Shield Gating, made Voidrig easier to craft and added so much more!

Warframe Reworks

Over the past few years, we’ve attempted to bring older Warframes up to snuff with their newer counterparts. Some of these changes have been small tweaks, but others have been full Reworks to particular Warframes, drastically altering their gameplay. Warframes that have received Reworks include Caliban, Nova, Frost, Inaros, and Hydroid, while smaller changes have been made to Hildryn, Wukong, Ember, Excalibur, Mag, and Volt.

And all that is before we touch upon the all-new Warframes that have joined your Arsenal. Each one offers a new, unique playstyle, whether that’s the random nature of Koumei, the angelic light of Jade, the concrete brutality of Qorvex, or the erudite support of Dante.

Companion Reworks

Even if you head into battle alone, you’re never truly alone with your Companions. We’ve made several enhancements to all types of Companions so they’re a more meaningful part of your combat experience. In the first phase of the Rework, we increased the base stats of Companions and made it so they couldn’t permanently die during Missions.

In a more recent phase of the Rework, we gave Beast Companions a moddable weapon, rebalanced Sentinel weapons, and enhanced Companion Precept effects. Whether you're running with a Kavat, Kubrow, Sentinel or something much stranger, your Companions are far more useful in battle now!

Improved Graphics

We’ve also taken a look at Warframe’s graphical prowess over the years. It’s been over 11 years since Warframe launched and graphics technology on PC and consoles has seen vast changes alongside it.

Over the past few years, we’ve moved to the Enhanced Graphics Renderer on PC, which offered things like a new fog system and skin shader improvements to your Drifter. We added Dynamic Lightning and support for upscaling tech like Nvidia DLSS and AMD FSR. Warframe will also be enhanced for PlayStation 5 Pro when that console launches on November 26!

In addition to all those graphical improvements, we’ve also added new user interface tweaks and accessibility options, like the Character Highlighting System, which lets you apply Highlights to your allies and enemies. No more worries about losing a foe or friend in the heat of battle!
