One of the first things you'll notice about 1999 is your new vehicle. The Atomicycle is a special motorcycle with several useful abilities to help you get around the streets of Höllvania!

• Atomi-Boost: Grants the Atomicycle a burst of speed
• Atomi-Barrage: Fires homing missiles that damage and weaken enemies
• Atomi-Shadow: Launches the rider off the Atomicycle and makes them invisible
• Atomi-Bomb: Launches the Atomicycle forward as an explosive projectile

You can also speed up the Atomicycle naturally by pressing the "sprint" key and launch yourself into the air with the "jump" key. If you ever dismount your Atomicycle, you can recall it by accessing your Gear Wheel and selecting it from the radial menu.

As you progress through your objectives in The Hex, you'll eventually be faced with a unique boss fight: the H-04 Efervon Tank. This heavy-hitting armament has weak points (as pointed out by your ally Quincy) in the form of vents above its treads. You must destroy all eight of these — while handling waves of Scaldra footsoldiers that drop in from above — to weaken it.

Once the tank is vulnerable, you'll be able to pick up and fire a special rocket launcher dropped by the Scaldra. This will allow you to damage the tank until it's vulnerable to a final attack. When its health bar is depleted, run up to the wounded vehicle and interact with it to finish it off.

Another unique mission type during The Hex is Hell-Scrub. This plays out very similar to standard Survival Missions found throughout The Origin System. You will destroy waves of incoming enemies who drop life-giving charges that keep your life support level above zero. You can also interact with the titular Hell-Scrubbers to gain an even greater charge of life support.

However, Hell-Scrubbers can be overcome with Techrot (as shown by red diamond icons that appear over them). You will have a limited amount of time to "clean" these filters by attacking any blue Techrot gunk growing over them. If you don't remove the infestation in time, the Hell-Scrubbers will transform into strong Techrot enemies that provide greatly limited life support!
