Five Major Features Coming to the New Player Experience

Warframe celebrated its 11th anniversary this year and it has continued to evolve each year. For new players who are just jumping into Warframe for the first time, it can be difficult to understand 11 years of new gameplay additions. With that in mind, we endeavor to improve upon the path ahead of new players with every update.

Here are some of the new player experience changes coming with Koumei & the Five Fates!

Steam-Linked Account Sign-In

Many players enjoy Warframe on Steam, but our current system requires you to launch the game from your Steam library and then sign into your Warframe account in-game. This update will offer PC players the option to automatically login via Steam by linking their Warframe account to their Steam account. If you haven't already, we highly recommend linking your Warframe accounts using Cross Platform Save so you can enjoy your progress regardless of where you choose to play!

Once the accounts are linked, you will be able to choose the “Login With Steam” option when you load Warframe from your Steam library, bypassing the need to enter your email address and password. There will also be an included option to allow for Auto-Login through this system!

Warning For Destroying Non-Mastered Items

For a new player, Arsenal space is a limited commodity. When faced with an inventory full of equipment, some might be tempted to start selling or destroying items that they haven’t Mastered yet, even though achieving Rank 30 with an item is key to increasing your own Mastery Rank.

With the Koumei & the Five Fates update, there will now be a warning when you try to sell or destroy an item you haven’t Mastered. It’s a small change, but that should save you some heartache when you’re clearing out your inventory!

Unowned Mod Information Appears in the Codex

Prior to the release of Koumei & the Five Fates, undiscovered Mods would show their name in the Codex, but not much else. Now you're able to read the description and drop location of a Mod in the Codex, regardless of ownership status! That means all the information needed for hunting down a specific Mod is right there in the game.

Legends for Open Landscape Maps

We understand that our Open Landscapes can be difficult to navigate for new players. With the update, we’ll be adding Legends for the Advanced Map view. This means you’ll be able to find key spots in these maps, including entrances, important characters, Extraction Points, and more.

Narrative Improvements

Some of the early missions in Warframe currently lack the same cinematic panache that our current updates bring to the table. We’re adding new narrative moments to these older missions to keep new players emotionally engaged with the story of Warframe. With the Koumei update, you might see one of these new additions after you complete the Jupiter Junction.

These are only the most major changes focused on new players that have arrived alongside Koumei & the Five Fates. We have a Dev Workshop available that outlines further changes and several quality of life improvements as well. We look forward to continuing to improve the Warframe experience for new players!
