Devstream 54 Overview

Our bi-weekly Devstreams are all about what our team is currently working on in Warframe -- both current projects and future endeavours. Often times what's discussed are ideas being fleshed out or concepts that may not quite be finished, but keeping that in mind we love to share our ideas and hear from our community what they're most excited about.

This week's Devstream gave a look into some new weapons, a brief glimpse at a far-future tileset and some exciting details on Frost's development now that Excalibur's rework has completed internally. Anyone who would like to see all the exciting reveals as they happened live can check out Devstream 54 here.

If you're crunched for time and just want the facts here's a quick recap of everything we covered:

Parkour 2.0

Parkour 2.0 is still a work in progress and we've had to revisit a few elements to get it going, but so far things are going great. Its current design implementation won't interfere with our existing tilesets -- which means that players should be able to hop right into the new movement system without any concerns. Expect to see more information as we get closer to launch!

Catbrows

Just like our current Kubrows, Catbrows (name pending) will have their own unique customization features. The concept above shows off some of the different head and tail combinations that could exist.

Excalibur’s Rework

We've shown off details behind Excalibur's rework, and the good news is you won't have to hear us talk about Excalibur's cool new goodies for long. PC Tenno can expect to see the changes go live sometime this week, and we'll be keeping a close eye on player feedback to fine-tune any features that may require adjustment.

Frost's Rework

With Excalibur being wrapped up Frost is next on the table! Here are a few early ideas on what changes Frost players can expect to see:

  • Freeze will create patches of cold on any environment it hits.
  • Enemies frozen will stay frozen for longer periods of time, and proc a 100% chance to slow.
  • Ice Wave will be changed to a cone instead of a line, with its size adjustable by mods and rank.
  • Players can still stack Snowglobe and the ability timer will be removed from Snowglobe, we're experimenting with a maximum of 4 globes at a time.
  • Snowglobe will be able to freeze and push enemies away.
  • Avalanche - Enemies that survive being smashed from freeze will have their armor reduced, enemies that do die will do AOE damage and slow procs to enemies around them.

Arcanes and Cosmetics

We know that players invest a lot in their Arcanes, but also want to keep up with their favorite fashion trends happening in Warframe. Currently there is no way to move a fully ranked Arcane from one set of gear to another, but we're looking into ways to fix this.

One possibility is to let the highest tier of Syndicates will allow players to pull out Arcanes for use elsewhere -- something to be used from the Foundry, although the price will be high. This concept is still a work in progress, but we'll let you know more as we get closer to a final solution.

Tyl Regor Underwater Boss Room

· The fight against Tyl Regor will be very dynamic.

· Environment will dynamically change, areas will flood as the encounter goes on.

· There will be Sharkwing (underwater Archwing) elements to the fight that will allow players to transition from one arena to another.

The Moon

One of the future tilesets we're looking at developing is an early concept of Orokin presence on the Moon. Nothing is final but this concept art should give a good idea of our current direction, inspired by the idea that the Orokin played a role in the terraforming and settlement of the Moon.

New Weapons

Two new weapons in development are a Tenno-inspired rapier and a new Cephalon Primary weapon. The rapier will receive its own unique stance, while the Cephalon Primary will just be straight-up awesome.

New Cosmetics

New cloth technology means new cloth cosmetics! Although this new cape is an exciting (and much requested) cosmetic feature we want to give a gentle reminder that we have not forgotten Trinity.

New Warframe

· Our new Warframe explores a lot of themes for Ying-Yang.

· Each Warframe has its own separate idle, personalities and unique moveset.

· Players will be able to split between each variation of the Warframe in mission.

General Cleanup

· The Foundry app is still receiving updates, and players can currently manage a wide range of tasks (including Arsenal customization and Foundry management).

· Players will be able to claim items (such as Forma) in the Foundry app.

· New emotes are still in development, including an update that should let players toggle meditate.

· We're working on a new stance for Silva and Aegis and a new stance for Greatsword weapons.

· Visiting the Lotus will be part of a quest where you can meet her in her command center.
