Devstream 55 Overview

Our bi-weekly Devstreams are all about lifting the veil into Warframe's development, giving the community an inside look into the inspirations behind our future content. This Devstream Overview we take a look at a wide variety of upcoming content changes and new additions, such as the progress on our upcoming Frost Rework, a look at development on Parkour 2.0, a sneak peek at the J3 Golem Trial and more.

If you missed all the action live and still want to see the reveals as they happened be sure to check out the full Devstream here. We definitely recommend watching this week's Devstream as many of our reveals came with visual walkthroughs that are pretty awesome to see in action!

Frost Rework

Now that Excalibur has received his overhaul our team is hard at work looking into the next Warframe in line to get a mechanical rework -- Frost! The following details represent our current WIP changes for Frost, and may continue to see adjustments until release.

  • Ice Wave now extends out from Frost in a cone.
  • Enemies frozen mid-air will now fall and (potentially) smash on the ground.
  • Enemies that survive Avalanche will now have their armor 'broken', making them vulnerable to future attacks.
  • Snow Globe will repel enemies that step inside.
  • Freeze can hit the floor and create pocket of cold, slowing enemy movement.
  • Frost's passive will give enemies chance of being frozen when melee attacking Frost.

Shotgun Tweaks

Shotguns are currently undergoing some adjustments as we attempt to better represent this deadly class of weapons. Here's what we have in mind so far:

  • Range tweaks for all shotguns will change effectiveness at various distances.
  • DPS may be doubled or tripled at optimal firing range.
  • Endpoints of damage falloff have been changed - we're currently experimenting with half of the base damage value at max falloff.
  • Ragdolls and gore effects have been increased to better represent shotgun force.

Cloth Physics Cape / PBR

  • We’re looking to expand cloth physics to more objects and Warframes in the world now that we have this cloth technology established.
  • A PBR pass will be slowly rolled out to other Warframes as a priority, but it still will take time.

Parkour 2.0

  • All Warframes will be able to double jump.
  • Double jump resets any time you hit a surface, allowing for multiple jumps mid-air connecting to walls.
  • Stamina will be going away!
  • Players will be able to use air dodges to maneuver mid-air, in addition to leaping off of enemies.
  • Players can latch onto almost any object to reach just about any location.

J3 Golem

  • The J3 Golem Trial will be coming in 17.5.
  • Players will need to fight on the inside and outside of the Golem, coordinating their attacks to do damage.
  • Interior navigation is timed, so players will need to perfect their high-speed Archwing navigational skills!

Greedy Pull

We understand that Mag and Draco have become synonymous with easy grinding, and while we will never object to players finding optimized ways of earning experience and items this current meta is counter-intuitive to how we believe Warframe should be enjoyed. For now, our team has formally announced:

  • Mag's Greedy Pull will be seeing a change in the near future.
  • We want to keep functionality but minimize any potential abuse.
  • Adding cooldowns are not a solution, we want something that works without limiting playstyles through cooldowns.

Kubrow Armor

  • We currently have two armor sets that fit all Kubrow shapes and sizes.
  • The next Kubrow is a retriever type

Guides of the Lotus

Guides of the Lotus has officially launched! Read more about the program and the Guides in our FAQ here

Star Chart

  • The new Star Chart is based on the Tenno mapping of the Solar System.
  • By grouping planets into constellations we can better shape the culture of the Tenno and make planetary groupings easier to understand.
  • The end goal is to make something woven deeply into Warframe's lore that's also easy to use.

Nexus App

  • The Nexus App is still in development and coming along nicely!
  • Interface will have full Arsenal and Foundry functionality.
  • Our goal is to launch the App for Android, IOS and Windows phones.

General Cleanup

  • Grineer deployable cover is currently in development!
  • Grineer mountable turrets are also in development, usable by both players and NPCs!
  • The Mios is currently scheduled for release in Update 17.5.
  • We have no current ETA on when Tenno nunchakus will be ready for release.
