Focus Schools are receiving a total overhaul in Angels of the Zariman! You may be familiar with your Operator’s Void powers, but with the arrival of the Zariman Ten Zero in the Origin System, everything is changing.

We’ve already released an in-depth look at our plans with the Dev Workshop, but keep reading to learn more about Focus and how it can help you in Missions!

 Focus School Rework

What is Focus?

The Focus system was first introduced in 2015 and was conceived of as an alternative path to enjoy Warframe through another character in addition to your Warframe.

Since 2015, the Focus system has already seen quite a few changes from its initial implementation! Initially growing out of a pivotal story moment, The Second Dream Quest reveals your Operator and grants you the powerful Transcendence Ability, manifesting in a powerful Void Beam you can use to vaporize your enemies.

In The War Within, your Operators’ connection to the Void and powers grew, letting you freely take control and swap between Operator and Warframe modes. This update also brought Abilities like Void Dash or the sneaky Void mode for your Operator to experiment with.

Plains of Eidolon heralded the arrival of the mysterious Sentient Eidolons and Operator Amps, devices that your Operator can equip to change the capabilities of their Void Beam and boost their Abilities!

With each new challenge your Operator has risen to meet, they have grown stronger in the ways of the Void. The New War was a challenge for your Operator like never before, and so it’s only right that Focus grows again in Angels of the Zariman!

Reworking the Focus Schools

Our aim with the Focus Rework is to give all existing Schools a more defined playstyle and identity. Focus Schools are meant to represent different Tenno perspectives and approaches to problems, so each School should feel unique! With this in mind, we’ve made a sweeping list of changes that tweak some Abilities and completely overhaul others.

The flow of combat between your Warframe and Operator will be more seamless than ever, thanks to a combination of technical improvements and design. Passive Energy Drain options have been removed in favor of activated Abilities that you can use in Operator form, depending on your focus school.

Take a look at the new Void Sling Ability replacing Void Dash. You can use this ability to travel long distances out of sight from enemies, quickly giving you a tactical advantage in a fight, or helping you stay stealthy in a Spy Mission!

Check out how you will be able to instantly switch from Operator mode into your Warframe with a ground slam to devastate an unsuspecting enemy with the Naramon School!

That’s not all though, Tenno! There are loads more changes and new Abilities coming with the Angels of the Zariman update. All Focus points will be refunded back to the school it was invested in, so you’ll have to dive in and respec your Operator.
