By the Numbers: Conclave

Here at By the Numbers we give players the inside look at some of the stats our team looks at when reviewing performance in game. For this edition we're taking a look at Conclave -- more specifically what weapons Tenno have been using against each other and which Warframes they prefer taking into battle.

Unlike previous editions of By the Numbers, this Conclave edition focuses solely on PC. Our next edition of By the Numbers will include all platforms! Additionally, we'd like to remind all Tenno that the statistics shown here are only a small piece of a much larger puzzle. When reviewing these statistics internally for the purpose of content updates, much more is taken into consideration.

That being said, let's see what everyone has been up to these past few weeks!

Unsurprisingly, Team Annihilation and Annihilation are pretty far ahead of the more objective-based CTC as they are modes that let Tenno jump straight into racking up kills and collecting Oro. Given the demand for more 'Deathmatch' style game modes, we're not too shocked at Annihilation's popularity, but that's not to say we're ready to sit back and rest on what we've created so far.

While many would guess that Prime weaponry would dominate the top of the charts this breakdown of weapon kills actually reveals a few interesting details. Given the difference in skill required to use single-shot versus automatic weapons the gap between each weapon's kill count isn't as large as one would imagine.

We're very pleased to see the kill disparity become fairly level over time, but weapon balance is an aspect of Conclave that requires constant monitoring. As new weapons become available for use in Conclave we will need to not only keep close watch over what weapons players favor but also the context of their use.

Whether it's his complimentary set of Abilities or prevalence as a starting Warframe it's clear that Excalibur sits high above the competition in terms of sheer volume of kills. Both Slash Dash and Radial Javelin are excellent at catching multiple foes, although it's worth mentioning that these numbers have been pulled before our recent Excalibur Revision update on PC. All data gathered to determine the deadliest Warframes was collected between June 1-15.

These numbers only taken into consideration players killed from Warframe Abilities and nothing else, so the mobile Valkyr and armor-heavy Chroma are at a bit of a disadvantage when placing on a chart like this. This breakdown shows what Abilities snag the killing blow, not provide the blend of damage that may lead to Oro collection.

That said, for as many kills Excalibur's powers have raked in Excalibur's aim may not be as impressive as we like to think…

There's a pretty huge disparity between Excalibur's casts and kills likely due to the fast-paced nature of Tenno movement. Any Ability with AoE will be given a natural edge on the competition, but it's interesting to see how well players are able to rack up the kills using 'skillshot' style powers. There will never be a one-for-one trade on Ability Casts vs Players Killed, nor should any player expect these numbers to compare favorably to kills earned or Warframe usage.

That said, monitoring the frequency of use each of these Abilities experience helps us better understand what players prefer to use in Conclave. Whether or not skillshot abilities are simply better than passives like high armor or increased run speed is hard to determine since it all falls under the individual player preference, but here we can at least compare to Warframe usage and get a general idea of what may influence player choice.

Our last bit of information sheds some light on Warframe usage -- partly explaining why Excalibur seems to be the King of the Conclave. The numbers are clearly in his favor, but once we look past Excalibur's lead representation across our other combatants is pretty even, including Primes!

We hope these numbers give a better idea of how your fellow Tenno have spent their time in Conclave, both in outfitting their Arsenal and unleashing their deadly powers. There are still many more changes to come to Conclave, including new weapons, Warframes, game modes and features, but for now the numbers seem to say Tenno genuinely appreciate Teshin's efforts.

Still feel like you're missing part of the big picture? Want us to divulge some of Warframe's spiciest statistics? We can't promise to spill all the beans, but let us know what sort of numbers you'd like to see in the future and we'll try to accommodate as best we can.
